Bath is not only one of the most beautiful cities in the UK, but it has recently been named a foodie destination in the UK. Having lived in Bath for over 7 years, we have seen many changes with Restaurants and Cafe's opening and unfortunately also sometimes closing down.
It is safe to say we have tried our fair share of restaurants in our stay and here are a few recommendations for vegan food.
WHERE TO EAT BRUNCH/ LUNCH
NOOK
Good for Breakfast and Lunch and healthy options.
An Australian inspired café serving coffees, breakfast, Buddha bowls, smoothies and freshly pressed juices. This place is smoothie bowl heaven. Their Acai and Chocolate Acai bowls are my go-to. Leading with fruit, granola and a generous amount of nut butter (on request).
Find yourself a seating at the window - perfect for people watching whilst enjoying a smoothie bowl or iced latte.
THE GREEN ROCKET
Good for Breakfast and Lunch
This place is a multi-award cafe in the centre of Bath, with have a diverse and vibrant plant-based menu. Try their bang bang cauliflower and their Tuscan stew. They are open for breakfast and lunch, plus open on Friday and Saturday nights for dinners.
GOOD DAY CAFE
Good for Brunch
This colourful café serves brunch, baked goods, and coffees. In summer it is lovely to sit outside whilst enjoying brunch in the sunshine. They are unfortunately a bit limited with vegan brunch options, but what I had was tasty.
GREEN BIRD CAFE
Good for Brunch
Their menu is everchanging and they use mostly locally sourced produce. Note that they are closed on Sundays.
GO SLOW AND ENJOY
Good for lunch and coffee (and a good chat).
If you are looking for a delicious lunch, where you will feel right at home, this is the place! The owner, Maria, is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. She is welcoming and serves wonderful home cooked style dishes, with a menu that changes almost daily. She always has a vegetable soup on the menu, which is/ can be made vegan. I can confirm every soup I had there has been amazing! Delicious coffees too.
Brownie points: If you are traveling with a non-vegan sweet tooth, this is the place to have a delicious slice of cake.
SWEET LITTLE THINGS
Good for brunch/ Afternoon Teas
Decorated with hundreds of flowers, this café is perfect for a girly brunch. Their drinks menu include treats like Mimosas, fresh smoothies, milkshakes, coffees and hot chocolates. They have a few savoury items, but mostly it's about the sweet things - Cookies, Macarons, Choux buns (not vegan), cupcakes and afternoon teas. They have a good variety of vegan options. A must if you are a girly-girl.

CASCARA
Good for brunch.
A fully vegan cafe, with coffees, fresh juices, cakes and great breakfast/ lunch options. They do a carrot "salmon" and nut cream cheese toast, and a scrambled tofu burrito which I really enjoyed. For the sweet-tooth, check if they have their vegan cinnamon rolls!
PLANT . EAT . LICIOUS
I have to admit, I have not had any food from them, but people are raving about their food. If you do go, drop me a message to let me know if it's worth the hype.
WHERE TO EAT DINNER
BECKFORD CANTEEN
Perfect for special occasions or date nights.
This restaurant is set in a former Georgian Greenhouse, a light and airy space. It is simple and beautifully decorated. They offer a wonderful modern and seasonal menu, all beautifully plated. Although they don't have anything vegan on their menu*, you can call them when booking your table to ask them if they can make something vegan. I had the most amazing 3 course meal there on my Birthday, all off the menu, but we had to plan ahead and gave the chef a few weeks notice. Booking is required.
*this was in 2023.
OAK RESTAURANT
Perfect for date nights or special occasions.
A restaurant serving modern vegetarian/vegan dishes, made with seasonal ingredients, served in one of Bath's oldest buildings. Previously Acorn Restaurant, this place makes the most of vegetables. Perfectly balanced meals and defo a place for foodies. I highly recommend booking a table.
THE CIRCUS RESTAURANT
Perfect for date nights or special occasions. A must for foodies.
This restaurant has been voted one of the best restaurants in the UK and is a true gem. Delicious food and fine wines. They serve modern European food, with a seasonal menu. You have the option of a set menu or a la carte. They are bit limited with vegan options, but the ones they have are good. Their Lentil moussaka is recommended if it's still on the menu. Worth a visit. Make sure to book a table.
THE CHEQUERS
Perfect for if you are looking for that Sunday lunch vibe.
A British gastropub in Georgian building, this pub has a AA Rosette award and is also featured in the Michelin Guide.
They are especially popular for their Sunday Roasts, but I have not tried their Sunday Menu yet.
Booking is highly recommended, even for a weekday.
BOSCO PIZZERIA
For the pizza-lovers and dinner with friends.
A go-to restaurant for us. They serves wood fired Neapolitan style pizza and classic Italian dishes. It has a wonderful atmosphere and if you find a spot at the counter you can see how they make the pizzas whilst you are enjoying a drink or your dinner.
They don't have a vegan pizza on their menu, but you can ask them to "build your own" pizza. Their bases are wonderfully chewy. In saying that, their Tuscan Bean Stew is definitely my favourite dish on their menu. It is vegan and served with chunky toasted sourdough. It is soooo good!
For the sweet-tooth: Their Chocolate Gelato is from Swoon, which is vegan. Don't skip dessert!
THE OVEN
For the pizza-lovers and dinner with family.
I love a good pizza base and their Neapolitan Pizza base is so delicious! They do have a couple vegan pizza options, but I normally make a custom pizza, because I love their friarielli (wild broccoli) and they don't have that on their vegan pizzas. We love sitting at the counter, with a view of the kitchen and pizza oven.
SOLINA PASTA
Perfect for an unplanned evening out - if you are looking for a simply and delicious dinner.
All homemade pasta and absolutely delicious! This is a go-to for us and never disappoints. They are situated right next to the Pulteney Weir, perfect for a night out.

THE HARE AND HOUNDS
Good for the pub lunch vibe or a cocktail in the sun.
This pub is based on the outskirts of Bath. Situated on the top of a hill, it offers beautiful views. They have a lovely outside section, which is especially popular in Summer. We have on many occasions enjoyed a cold beer, a glass of wine or an Aperol spritz after a long walk. Their food is really good and have a good selection of vegan options, including a full English vegan breakfast with tofu scramble and a Sunday roast.
NOYA'S KITCHEN
Perfect for date nights or dinner with friends.
Noya's Kitchen had been on my radar for a long time and finally decided to booked a table. The only thing I regretted was not booking a table sooner. This Vietnamese restaurant serves truly delicious food, which varies from curries, Phos, to dumplings, spring rolls and Buddha Bowls. Their menu does change with the seasons, so it might be worth checking before booking what they currently have on their menu. Booking is required.

DOS DEDOS
Perfect for sunny evenings. Tacos and Cocktails.
Authentic Tacos and Tequila Cocktails. They are located on a little cobble street in Bath, opposite to the Beckford Canteen. I recommend trying their Vegan Plantain Tacos. Walk-ins only.

INDIAN TEMPTATIONS
Perfect for colder evenings or if you want a dinner with a view.
India cuisine is very popular in the UK, meaning their are many curry restaurants. Having been to Indian Temptations with a friend from India, I can confirm they serve truly authentic Indian Food that tasted like home to him. They are a fully vegetarian/ vegan restaurant and I've loved everything I have tried here. I recommend requesting a table at the window, for a view of Bath Abbey.
Our favourite dishes on their menu are Hari Bhari Bhindi (a dish with Okra, ginger, tomato and onion) and their Varli Baingan (baby aubergine cooked in a delicious sauce)
BANDOOK
Perfect for colder evenings.
This is (another) popular Indian Restaurant in Bath, but serving a bit more modern Indian food. I recommend their Jackfruit Biryani and Cauliflower Gobi.
GIGGLY SQUID
Perfect for when you are craving something delicious and fresh.
Although a chain restaurant, the food at this Thai restaurant is really good and fresh. Eating in or take away, I have done both. They have many delicious vegan options. Their Tamarind Mushrooms and their Vegan Pad Thai are especially good.
NOODLE BATH
Perfect for cosy winter evenings or when you are craving a big bowl of noodle soups. Slurping essential.
The name says just what it is. Colourful noodle and noodle soup dishes. I had their sweet potato noodle (glass noodles) ramen with tofu, which was comforting and flavourful. Good for eat-in or as take-aways.

GOOD FOR TAKE-AWAYS
TAYLORS BAGELS
Good for breakfast and lunch.
Handmade bagels, with generous fillings. Family owned, they recently opened a 4th location as they are so popular. Their bagels are big, soft and chewy, just as a bagel should be. They also have a few sweet treats and their coffee is really good too! I recommend their Hipster bagel (with falafel), but make sure to mention you would like it vegan, if so desired.
They are open for breakfasts and lunches only.
CHAI WALLA
Good for lunch or dinner.
This laidback little "whole in the wall" serves insanely delicious Indian Street food. You will smell it miles away. The owner, Niraj, knows good food! I especially love their samosas and onion bhaji wraps. They are also recently opened a location in Bristol, called Little Chai. A must when in Bath. Don't forget to buy a bottle of their own chutney!
EAT A PITTA
Good for lunch or dinner.
One of my favourite, healthier take-away places. A Middle Eastern falafel, pitas and fresh salad boxes! Their falafel recipes dates back 80 year olds and are simply divine! They also have locations in Bristol, which is where I believe they started.
MOKOKO
This is a lovely café and bakery. Delicious freshly made sandwiches, good coffees and baked goods. Their vegan sandwiches are incredible. There are two locations in Bath. If you visit the one in the centre of Bath (close to the Abbey) I suggest grabbing a sandwich and find a sunny or shady spot in the colourful Parade Gardens with a view of the river.
FOR COFFEE DATES
SOCIETY CAFE
When you walk into a café and they ask: " Your usual?", it probably a sign that we might go their too often. The staff are friendly and know how to make a good coffee. So what is our usual order? Two decaf oat lattes, take-away and extra hot, please. They occasionally have vegan cinnamon buns, which are soo insanely delicious! Not too sweet, but perfect in my opinion.
They have two locations in Bath and are worth a visit.
WATCH HOUSE
Great location and good coffees. I once had their vegan lamington here, which was delicious. Sadly, I have only seen it that once and not again. It might be that they are always sold out, but do have a look when there as they are delicious! They have branches in varies cities, including London.
FANCY A DRINK
18 GREEN STREET WINE Co
Currently our favourite wine bar in Bath. They have fabulous selection of wines and their staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Wonderful atmosphere and always great for conversations with other locals. A must for wine lovers.
THE BECKFORD BOTTLE STORE
Part of Beckford Canteen, they have an extensive and vibrant wine list. Enjoy a glass of wine in their gorgeous building, and a side of smoked almonds.
WALCOT CAFE
Stylish Interior and lovely cocktails. They also have a brunch/lunch and dinner menu, but they sadly don't have any vegan options.
TOWN + HOUSE
If you are looking to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine in a stylish interior, this is the place. The owner has a eye for detail and a good interior design style. This used to be our local pub, which we frequented on many occasions. They sometimes have live music and once a week a quiz night. Their also serve brunches, dinners and Sunday lunches (unfortunately their don't always have vegan options).
THE DARK HORSE
If you are looking for a small, intermit and cosy cocktail bar, this is for you. This is great for a romantic date night.
THE HIDEOUT
A small cocktail bar, hidden away, opposite from the Oak Restaurant. This is a hidden gem for whiskey lovers. Mostly whisky based cocktails, including some classic and some creative combinations. Their menu keeps changing, but they always have fun cocktails.
