Silky smooth and nutritious smoothie bowl, made from frozen fruit and cacao. A delicious breakfast, light lunch or snack.


As I am writing this I am sitting under a blanket, eating this delicious smoothie bowl. Whether winter or summer, I am always craving smoothie bowls and nice creams.

FOR THE LOVE OF SMOOTHIES

I love that smoothie bowls are so versatile and can be amended to whatever I currently have in my freezer.

Smoothie bowls are perfect for picky eaters as you can hide fruits (that you might not like) and even veggies such as cauliflower, courgette or spinach/kale.


It's a great way to pack in as many nutrients as possible, plus the added cacao has so many health benefits.

Add a scoop of protein powder and finish with a drizzle of tahini/ and hemp seeds for additional protein and minerals such as calcium, magnesium and iron.



This smoothie bowl is a mix of:

  • frozen strawberries

  • frozen cherries

  • frozen banana

  • frozen mango

  • almond milk

  • cacao powder

  • and maca powder



SERVING SUGGESTIONS

Enjoy immediately after blending for a soft-serve consistency or freezer for about 30 minutes for a more solid texture. Served with cacao nibs, fresh or frozen berries, a drizzle of tahini, hemp seeds and dark chocolate granola.




THAT TEXTURE

The secret to that silky soft-serve texture is to use frozen fruit and to add as little liquid as possible.

You can however add a splash of almond milk/ hemp milk to make the blending process easier - just don't add too much!

You can also use ice cubs instead of water/milk.

Start the blending on the lowest setting for a while before increasing the speed.

Make sure to use a good food processor or blender for best results.

BERRY CHOCOLATE SMOOTHIE BOWL


A delicious cold breakfast, lunch or dessert.



Serves 1 - 2

Time: about 5 minutes



INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries

  • 1/2 cup frozen cherries

  • 1 large frozen banana

  • 1/2 cup frozen mango chunks (optional)

  • Splash of almond milk (or milk of choice)

  • 1 heaped tbsp cacao powder

  • 1 tsp maca powder (optional)



INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until a smooth soft serve like consistency.

  2. Add milk as needed.

  3. If you prefer a runnier consistency, simply add more milk.

  4. Serve immediately and enjoy with cacao nibs, chocolate granola, tahini and fresh or frozen berries!
